SAN DIEGO – Los argumentos del dominicano Fernando Tatis Jr. para ganar un Guante de Oro tienen ahora su momento más destacado.

En la sexta entrada de la victoria por 12-2 de los Padres en el último partido de la serie de San Diego contra los Cardenales la tarde del domingo, Tatis hizo una increíble atrapada de un salto en la pared del jardín derecho para robarle un jonrón al jardinero central de San Luis, Michael Siani.

“Con la altura de esa pared, no verás una jugada mejor que ésa”, dijo el manager de los Padres, Bob Melvin.

Tatis había estado esperando ansiosamente su primera oportunidad de evitar un cuadrangular, desde que hizo la transición a tiempo completo a los jardines este año. Cuando finalmente se le dio la oportunidad, no decepcionó. Saltó muy por encima del muro de dos metros y medio del jardín derecho, estirándose al máximo con el brazo izquierdo para llevarse lo que habría sido el primer bambinazo de la carrera de Siani.

“Se sintió increíble”, dijo Tatis. “Me sentí como un superhéroe o algo así”.
