El Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana (ProDominicana) y la Dirección General de Minería firmaron un acuerdo de colaboración interinstitucional, con el objetivo de impulsar acciones orientadas a incrementar la participación de la entidad en la atracción y expansión de Inversión Extranjera Directa (IED) a través de la Ventanilla Única de Inversiones de la República Dominicana (VUIRD).
Con esta alianza, las entidades se proponen facilitar los procesos de instalación de nueva Inversión Extranjera Directa al país a través del sector minero. De este modo, la Dirección General de Minería se une a la plataforma digital de la VIURD para facilitar los servicios de permisos, licencias, registros, documentos de no objeción, entre otros.
En ese sentido, la directora ejecutiva de ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, expresó que la minería en República Dominicana ha tenido un papel preponderante en los últimos años, posicionándose como uno de los entes de desarrollo de la economía del país. “A través de este acuerdo desempeñaremos un papel esencial para gestionar estos procesos de captación de Inversión Extranjera Directa de manera sostenible y equitativa para los inversionistas que desean invertir en proyectos del sector minero dominicano".
De igual modo, se comprometió a simplificar sus procesos y reducir los tiempos ya establecidos, procurando una mejora constante en los servicios que ofrece y a emitirlos en el plazo establecido según el servicio.
Asimismo, Riveiro informó que en el período 2017-2022 y en el acumulado enero-noviembre 2023, el sector de minería exportó un total de USD 13,525.2 millones. Además, reveló que, los principales productos exportados por este sector en el 2023 fueron: el oro en bruto por un valor de USD 1,002 millones; seguido de ferroníquel con USD 314 millones; oro semielaborado con un valor de USD 44.4 millones, y los minerales de cobre con USD 72.5 millones.
Se destaca que las principales provincias exportadoras del sector de minería son Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Noel y el Distrito Nacional. En cuanto a los principales destinos de las exportaciones de minería en el 2023 fueron Suiza, India y Corea del Sur.
En ese sentido, Rolando Muñoz, titular de la Dirección General de Minería, manifestó el compromiso que tiene el Consejo de apoyar y promover la instalación de empresas en el sector minero y además brindar a sus usuarios un servicio eficiente y de calidad, contribuyendo a través de la firma de este acuerdo a la implementación exitosa de la Ventanilla Única de Inversión en busca de agilizar y facilitar los trámites para garantizar el incremento de la inversión privada en el República Dominicana.
Muñoz puntualizó que este acuerdo beneficiará a la Dirección de Minería en cuanto a la emisión de autorizaciones, licencias, permisos o certificaciones necesarios para que el empresario pueda realizar adecuadamente la inversión en el sector minero.
