El director general del Instituto Dominicano para la Calidad (INDOCAL), Lorenzo Ramírez, anunció este jueves la aprobación, por parte del Consejo Dominicano para la Calidad (CODOCA), del Reglamento Técnico Metrológico para el Procedimiento de Inspección de Lotes de Medidores de Energía Eléctrica por Muestreo, en aras de garantizar la fiabilidad de las mediciones de dichos instrumentos para la protección del consumidor.
Esta inspección tiene por objeto verificar metrológicamente en los lotes de medidores nuevos que ingresen a la República Dominicana el cumplimiento de los estándares de calidad establecidos para el uso cotidiano y que, a su vez, correspondan con el modelo de medidor previamente aprobado por el INDOCAL, de modo que haya una doble verificación.
“La inspección tendrá un impacto directo en los consumidores en la medida en que garantizará la confiabilidad y transparencia en el uso de los medidores de energía”, manifestó Lorenzo Ramírez, director del INDOCAL.
La solicitud del servicio de inspección de lotes de medidores deberá ser realizada por las empresas que ejecuten las actividades de distribución y comercialización, así como las empresas concesionarias de un sistema aislado que adquieran medidores nuevos. Este servicio será solicitado ante el INDOCAL, autoridad responsable del proceso de inspección.
Ramírez ofreció estas declaraciones al dejar inaugurado el Primer Museo de Metrología INDOCAL, con motivo del Día Mundial de la Metrología este 20 de mayo; una exhibición sobre las ciencias de las mediciones aplicadas en la vida cotidiana en los ámbitos de salud, procesos industriales, transacciones comerciales, entre otros.
El Museo de Metrología estará abierto los días 19 y 20 de este mes, en horario de 9:00 am a 4:00 pm, de forma gratuita, en la sede del INDOCAL.

Como organismo normalizador, el INDOCAL tiene como funciones organizar las actividades de elaboración, adopción, armonización, aprobación, oficialización, publicación y divulgación de las normas técnicas, con miras a facilitar el comercio y el desarrollo industrial y servir de base a los Reglamentos Técnicos.
En lo que respecta a la metrología, se ocupa de desarrollar y diseminar la exactitud de los patrones nacionales de medición, así como la verificación, la calibración y la certificación de los instrumentos de medición que intervienen en el comercio.
