EL PORTAVOZ, CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- El presidente de la Conferencia Permanente de Partidos Políticos de América Latina y el Caribe (Copppal), Alejandro Moreno Cárdenas, anunció que la organización enviará a República Dominicana una misión de 100 observadores de 25 países, para dar seguimiento al proceso electoral del domingo 19 de mayo, donde se elegirá al presidente de la República, diputados y senadores.
Moreno Cárdenas, quien preside la Misión de Observación Electoral internacional, dijo que en un compromiso con la democracia la Copppal asiste a verificar el proceso electoral en República Dominicana como lo hace de manera permanente en toda América Latina y el Caribe, siempre en coordinación con las autoridades electorales, los partidos políticos y los gobiernos de las naciones.
“El trabajo profesional, comprometido, responsable que realiza el Observatorio Electoral de la Copppal con sede en Buenos Aires, Argentina, que dirige Dolores Gandulfo, prestigia a nuestra organización, por eso el reconocimiento regional y mundial que goza esta instancia de nuestra organización”, señaló.
El líder de los partidos progresistas del continente reconoció el trabajo profesional que realiza la Junta Central Electoral dominicana y miles de dominicanos que participan en todo el país, para garantizar que el proceso electoral del domingo 19 de mayo cumpla los principios de certeza, legalidad, imparcialidad, neutralidad y equidad.

Anunció que la Copppal enviará una amplia delegación de observadores a las elecciones dominicanas, provenientes de México, Brasil, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Panamá, Honduras, Ecuador, Colombia, Bonaire, Venezuela, Perú, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Surinam, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belice, y Jamaica.
Además asistirán como observadores invitados de la Copppal dirigentes de partidos de Europa, Asia y África, quienes estarán desplegados en el Gran Santo Domingo, La Romana, Bonao, Puerto Plata, Santiago de los Caballeros, La Vega, San Pedro de Macorí, Azua, San Juan de la Maguana, entre otras provincias del país.
Moreno Cárdenas dijo que la Copppal ha registrado ante la Junta Central Electoral, una misión de alto perfil de hombres y mujeres que, con profesionalismo, neutralidad y de manera ética, han cubierto innumerables elecciones en toda la región de América Latina y el Caribe.
El presidente de la Copppal manifestó que existe confianza en que, más allá de las diferencias que puedan existir entre los actores políticos, los dominicanos acudirán a las urnas, el próximo domingo, en un marco de civilidad y gran participación como lo han demostrado a través de la historia democrática de República Dominicana.
“Estoy convencido que la elección para elegir el Presidente de la República, diputados y senadores se efectuará en un marco de paz, respeto, tolerancia y convivencia cívica. Recordó que el voto libre y secreto es la herramienta más eficaz para la expresión social, con la confianza de que los resultados de las elecciones serán el reflejo de la voluntad colectiva expresada en los sufragios que se depositan en las urnas.
