El jardinero dominicano habló de la importancia que tiene para él poder vestir los colores de su equipo en el evento que se está celebrando en su ciudad, en donde es favorito para llevarse el HR Derby 2023.

Julio Rodríguez tomó al mundo de las Grandes Ligas por sorpresa al tener un espectacular desempeño en 2022, donde ganó el premio de Novato del Año de la Liga Americana y ayudó directamente a Seattle Mariners a romper la sequía más larga de viajes a la postemporada en MLB.

2022 también vio el debut de Julio Rodríguez en el Juego de Estrellas de MLB y en el Festival de Cuadrangulares en donde llegó a la etapa final, donde se vio las caras de frente con su compatriota y eventual campeón, Juan Soto, no sin antes dejar en el camino al que hasta el momento era el bicampeón consecutivo del evento, Pete Alonso.

Al ser cuestionado por Enrique Rojas de ESPN Digital sobre el significado de regresar al Juego de Estrellas y que en esta vez se celebre en la ciudad donde es local junto a los Mariners, el estelar jardinero apuntó a que para él es un honor y una alegría el poder representar a la franquicia y a la ciudad que le dieron la oportunidad de convertirse en un jugador de Grandes Ligas.

“Se siente increíble de verdad (estar de vuelta en el Juego de Estrellas), se siente increíble, porque yo digo que esta es una oportunidad que no todo el mundo tiene y de verdad que me siento muy agradecido”, indicó Rodríguez a Rojas.

Al ser cuestionado sobre qué le depara el futuro tras llegar dos veces de forma consecutiva al Juego de Estrellas, Rodríguez se limitó a decir que hay que esperar a la temporada próxima, pero que trabajará de manera constante para continuar siendo reconocido.

“Todos los años tienen su desafío, entonces tenemos que llegue el año primero, porque (ahora) viene una segunda mitad en la que hay que seguir metiendo mano”, sentenció.
