El ministro de Educación, Ángel Hernández, entregó equipos tecnológicos a estudiantes que resultaron ganadores en la competencia internacional First Lego League (FLL) celebrada este año y en la que obtuvieron 16 premios; nueve galardones por alumnos de escuelas públicas y siete por alumnos de colegios privados.
En un encuentro realizado en el salón Ercilia Pepín de la sede del Ministerio de Educación, con algunos de los estudiantes galardonados, Hernández reconoció la capacidad e inteligencia de los participantes, a la vez que los motivó a seguir cultivando el interés en estas ciencias y a ayudar a sus compañeros que se interesan por esta rama.
El ministro exhortó a los escolares a aprovechar las oportunidades para lograr siempre los mejores resultados, tanto en lo personal, como en la escuela y en la familia, al tiempo que felicitó a los profesores que los entrenaron para participar en esta competencia.
Al hablar en nombre de sus compañeros, la estudiante Amalia del Rosario, del centro educativo Madre Mazzarello, agradeció al ministro la entrega de los equipos, los que utilizarán para continuar desarrollando sus conocimientos, y destacó la importancia de haber participado en esta competencia "donde lo más importante no es ganar, sino aprender".
Alba Polanco, al hablar en representación de los padres, destacó el apoyo brindado por el ministro a los niños del área de robótica y las estrategias implementadas por el MINERD para que los estudiantes continúen avanzando en esta área que les abrirá muchas puertas en el futuro.
First Lego League (FLL) es una competencia internacional para niños de 9 a 14 años de edad, que se centra en el programa STEAM, es decir Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Arte y Matemáticas. Tiene como objetivo principal la implementación y ejecución de programas dirigidos a inspirar y motivar a los futuros líderes hacia las ciencias y la tecnología.
