EL PORTAVOZ, SANTO DOMINGO.-  El miembro del Comité Político del Partido de la Liberación Dominicana y jefe de campaña de Abel, Andrés Navarro, aclaró este viernes que no están en contra del pueblo haitiano, pero sí “están obligados a defender lo que corresponde por derecho internacional a la integridad del territorio dominicano”.

Estas declaraciones las externó el dirigente político en una rueda de prensa, ante el conflicto que existe en la frontera dominico-haitiana por la realización de un canal para desviar el río Masacre.

Navarro argumentó que el río Masacre pertenece a la República Dominicana, ya que es un río que nace en el país y desemboca en territorio marítimo dominicano.

“Es un río que tiene alrededor de 55 kilómetros de longitud, y apenas 7 kilómetros de esos, son los que corresponden a la zona de división entre los dos países”, expuso.

Especificó que se deben tomar medidas en todos los niveles, especialmente en el diplomático.

Andrés Navarro, sostuvo que el gobierno haitiano por más débil que pueda estar en esta ocasión, no puede eludir la responsabilidad de ordenar la detención e intervenir esa estructura.
