El director ejecutivo de la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana (APORDOM) presentó ante los miembros de la Asociación de Cruceros de Florida y el Caribe los avances de los puertos dominicanos en el objetivo de convertir a la República Dominicana en el hub de cruceros del Caribe.

Jean Luis Rodríguez, director de APORDOM, destacó el esfuerzo del Gobierno dominicano junto al sector privado para pasar de tres terminales a ocho puertos de cruceros y con ello aumentar la capacidad de recepción de turistas vía marítima, cuya cifra a la fecha ronda los 816,408 pasajeros desde enero hasta la fecha.

“Hoy estamos recibiendo cruceristas en dos fondeadores y cuatro terminales de cruceros (San Souci, Amber Cove, Romana y Taino Bay, estas dos últimas en ampliación), en ejecución tenemos dos terminales más (Port Cabo Rojo y Samaná Bayport), un proceso con la DGAPP para Arroyo Barril y el análisis de diseño de una última, en Barahona”.

Al participar de la vigésima octava edición de la Conferencia de la Asociación de Cruceristas de Florida y el Caribe, (FCCAA por sus siglas en inglés), Rodríguez dijo: “Quiero agradecer a la FCCA por ser un aliado importante en el viaje que nos impulsa a convertir nuestro país en un referente en cuanto a la industria de cruceros”.

APORDOM participa como miembro platinum de la 28 edición de la Conferencia de la Asociación de Cruceros de Floridas y el Caribe con sede en República Dominicana. En la misma se realizarán reuniones privadas con líneas de cruceros, paneles de discusión sobre la industria y exhibición de un Marketplace.

Este evento, que reúne a los principales empresarios del sector de cruceros, ofrecerá al país la posibilidad de concretar negociaciones para nuevas líneas de cruceros y que las existentes aumenten sus tocadas.

La Asociación de Cruceros de Florida y el Caribe es una organización comercial sin fines de lucro compuesta por 22 empresas de cruceros afiliadas, las cuales operan más de cien barcos en el Estado de La Florida, el Caribe y América Latina, al tiempo que cuenta con miembros platino compuestos por autoridades gubernamentales, puertos, tour operadores y otros prestadores de servicios.

A principios del año en curso la FCCA reconoció a la República Dominicana por su pujante crecimiento en la industria de cruceros.
