La Corporación del Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Santo Domingo (CAASD) informó que, pese a que la producción aumentó ligeramente en 11.26 millones de galones, aún se mantiene el déficit de agua potable en algunos sectores del Gran Santo Domingo.
A la fecha, la producción de agua se situó en 400.18 millones de galones diarios, producto de algunos aguaceros registrados en las últimas semanas en gran parte del territorio nacional.
La institución, sin embargo, llama a los ciudadanos a ser conscientes con la utilización del preciado recurso, porque cada día la demanda es mayor y el agua es la misma.
El déficit que aún persiste se debe, fundamentalmente, a la reducción en los niveles de agua que reciben los acueductos Duey, Isa-Mana y Valdesia de los ríos Nizao, Duey e Isa-Mana.
“Las pocas lluvias caídas en estas cuencas es lo que ha provocado que el servicio continúe deficiente en sectores de los municipios Los Alcarrizos y Pedro Brand, así como en el populoso sector Los Girasoles, específicamente”, informa la institución a través de su boletín semanal.
Asimismo, la CAASD informa que las presas Jigüey y Valdesia continúan con caudales dentro de los rangos normales. La primera se encuentra en la cota 508.79 y la segunda en la cota 141.3.
Se recuerda que, aunque ya pasó el período crítico de sequía, las cuencas todavía no reciben niveles de agua favorables para alimentar al 100% a los ríos y acueductos que proveen el agua manejada por la CAASD.
Para cubrir la demanda en sectores con escasez de agua potable, la institución mantiene activado el programa de suministro con camiones cisterna, debidamente solicitados a través de su call center, y reitera su llamado para que la población cuide el más importante recurso del planeta que es el agua.
