El músico y compositor cubano-estadounidense René Lorente interpuso este martes una demanda contra la cantante urbana colombiana Karol G por plagio en el tema “Don’t Be Shy” realizado junto a DJ Tiesto, ante el Tribunal de Distrito de Estados Unidos para el Distrito de Puerto Rico.

Según el documento judicial difundido por las autoridades, la artista fue demandada por “violación del Titular de los Derechos de Autor y Plagio en relación con la canción original compuesta en el año 1998 y titulada- ‘Algo Diferente’ del compositor René Lorente».

Por ello, el demandante solicitó que se requiera a los demandados pagar tres millones de dólares “por su angustia mental, humillación, daño a su reputación y vergüenza».

“Mediante un análisis detallado de los elementos musicales, líricos y elementos estructurales de ambas canciones, se ha determinado que existen innegables similitudes significativas que van más allá de los límites de la influencia común o la coincidencia casual”, subrayó el documento de la demanda radicada ante la corte.

“En el ámbito artístico, las ‘coincidencias’ son altamente improbables. Por lo tanto, cualquier parecido que se derive por completo es un mero plagio, una copia, un robo, una usurpación de los derechos del titular de los derechos de autor, o una violación de los derechos de autor”, añadió el documento.

De acuerdo al informe, existen “elementos melódicos distintivos, progresiones armónicas, estructuras armónicas y líricas que certifican una relación directa entre ambas composiciones».

En este contexto, el texto concluyó que hay “pruebas sustanciales que apoyan las alegaciones de infracción de derechos de autor y plagio, uso no autorizado, mutilación de la obra, daños morales y monetarios».

La colombiana recibió el pasado 23 de junio, durante la tercera edición de los Premios Tu Música Urbano, el premio Top Canción Crossover por “Don’t be shy” junto con otros ocho galardones. Karol G publicó el pasado 11 de agosto su último álbum “Mañana será bonito (Bichota Season)” en coincidencia con su gira por Estados Unidos, que arrancó la víspera en Las Vegas y la llevó por los principales estadios del país.

Además, la intérprete de éxitos como “Provenza”, “A ella”, “El Makinon” o “Tusa” realizó la gira norteamericana más taquillera de una artista latina en todos los tiempos y clasificó en la lista de Pollstar de las 10 giras más exitosas en el mundo con su «trip Love Tour».
