Los cubanos Yoan Moncada y Luis Robert y el dominicano Eloy Jiménez enviaron la pelota fuera del parque para ser el principal soporte ofensivo en la victoria de los Medias Blancas de Chicago 5 carreras a 6 sobre los Yanquis de Nueva York en el primero de dos partidos a disputarse este jueves en el Yankee Stadium.

Los Medias Blancas sacaron su artillería para derrotar a los Yanquis, luego de que su encuentro del miércoles fuera pospuesto debido al humo y la contaminación en Nueva York a causa de los incendios que están asolando el sur de Canadá.

Para conquistar su quinto triunfo consecutivo, los Medias Blancas se apoyaron en el poder de sus bates, para poder resistir el empuje del equipo neoyorquino.

Los Medias Blancas iniciaron su ataque en el segundo episodio, cuando tomaron la delantera por cuadrangular de dos carreras de Jake Burger, frente a los envíos del dominicano Luis Severino, quien inició por los Yanquis.

Los dirigidos por Aaron Boone igualaron las acciones (2-2) en el cierre de ese mismo segundo acto, con un doble productor de una vuelta de Kyle Higashioka, quien luego anotó por indiscutible al jardín izquierdo de Willie Calhoun.

Los visitantes no se quedaron de brazos cruzados y en la parte alta del tercer capítulo, los cubanos Robert y Moncada descargaron el poder de sus bates, nuevamente ante Severino. Robert le pegó a un picheo del diestro dominicano en la zona de strike y depositó la pelota en las graderías del jardín central, sin nadie en circulación, para devolverle la ventaja a los Medias Blancas (2-3).

Por su parte, Moncada fletó un tablazo que dejó el terreno de juego pasando por encima de la verja entre los jardines derecho y central para continuar ampliando la ventaja (2-4) en favor de los de Chicago.

La alegría no permaneció por mucho tiempo en el bando de los Medias Blancas, ya que Calhoun castigó con un planazo de cuatro esquinas, productor de dos anotaciones, al abridor derecho Lance Lyn, logrando empatar el marcador.

El venezolano Oswaldo Cabrera se encargó de colocar a los Yanquis arriba en la pizarra en el cierre del quinto acto, con un sencillo a la zona de jardín izquierdo, llevando a un compañero a la registradora.

El picheo de ambos equipos respondió y mantuvo las acciones sin variación hasta el séptimo episodio cuando, luego de un doble de Robert iniciando la entrada, Jiménez desapareció la esférica del parque, para llevar a la timbradora las dos vueltas que le dieron el empate y la ventaja del triunfo a los Medias Blancas.

Los Yanquis montaron una fuerte amenaza en el noveno capítulo, al colocar dos corredores en las bases sin outs, pero el relevista Kendall Graveman (6) se las arregló para dominar al venezolano Gleyber Torres con elevado al inicialista y dominó con rodado para eliminación doble a Anthony Rizzo para acabar el partido y acreditarse el salvamento.

La victoria fue para el dominicano Gregory Santos (2-0) al laborar una entrada en blanco y su compatriota Reynaldo López lanzó un episodio de dos ponches sin carreras para los Medias Blancas. Severino salió sin decisión, luego de lanzar cinco entradas de cuatro carreras y seis ponches para los Yanquis.

Por los Medias Blancas, Robert concluyó con dos anotadas y una remolcada, Jiménez con anotada y dos producidas y Moncada con anotada e impulsada. Por los Yanquis, Cabrera remolcó una carrera.
