Varios tornados asociados a los vientos que produce el huracán Ian azotaron el sureste de Florida dejando al menos dos personas heridas y algunas avionetas derruidas, como anticipo de escenarios "catastróficos" que dejará el meteoro de fuerza 4, que tocó tierra este miércoles pocas horas después.

El Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS, por su sigla en inglés) confirmó que uno de los tornados atravesó el martes por la noche más de 55 comunidades en la ciudad de Kings Point, en el condado de Palm Beach, donde dos personas fueron hospitalizadas por las heridas recibidas, según medios locales.

Este tornado tocó tierra anoche concretamente en Delray Beach mientras el huracán Ian, por el momento de fuerza 4 y con vientos sostenidos de 155 millas por hora (250 km/h), se acercaba a Florida.

El NWS confirmó este miércoles que el tornado arrasó la comunidad Kings Point Delray, que alberga a personas mayores de 55 años, en la noche del martes.

Unas 30 personas fueron evacuadas de este vecindario después de que un edificio en Kings Point se consideró inseguro por los daños del tornado, detalló Local 10.

Sobre las personas hospitalizadas no se conoce en estos momentos su estado clínico, añadió el medio.

Por otra parte, el canal 4, local de CBS, recogió en imágenes cómo un tornado volteó varias avionetas en el aeródromo Perry Airport, en Pembroke Pines, en el condado de Broward (suroeste de Florida).

Según las imágenes, al menos dos avionetas quedaron totalmente destruidas.  

Mientras, este miércoles los medios locales reportan daños de diversa importancia ocasionados por los tornados en la ciudad de Cooper City, también en Broward.

Allí, las bandas exteriores del huracán Ian dejaron calles completamente inundadas y algunos caminos bloqueados mientras los árboles continuaban derrumbándose por los múltiples tornados que afectaron a la ciudad alrededor de las 19.30 hora local del martes.

Ian tocó tierra este miércoles cerca de Cayo Costa, en el suroeste de Florida, con vientos de 150 millas por hora ( 240 km/h), informó el Centro Nacional de Huracanes (NHC, en inglés) de EE.UU.
