En el marco del 58 aniversario de fundación del Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos (INDRHI), el director ejecutivo de la entidad, Olmedo Caba Romano, valoró el apoyo del Gobierno central al sector agua, recurso altamente valorado por el presidente Luis Abinader, lo que se evidencia con el recién firmado Pacto por el Agua, y su compromiso para que se apruebe en el país una nueva Ley de Aguas.
El funcionario valoró la visión del Gobierno para continuar la construcción y mantenimiento del desarrollo de estructuras de almacenamiento y aprovechamiento del agua en el país, garantizándola así para sus distintos usos, como el consumo humano, la producción agropecuaria y la generación hidroeléctrica.
Caba Romano ponderó, además, el significativo avance del Proyecto Múltiple de la Presa Monte Grande, y la continuidad en el proyecto agrícola Azua II – Pueblo Viejo, ambos de gran valor para la región suroeste del país.
Manifestó que la presa Monte Grande es un reflejo de compromiso con la continuidad de Estado, ya que “gobiernos pasados no le dieron la importancia que se le ha dado en esta gestión”. Por tal razón, señaló el funcionario, “será el presidente Luis Abinader quien entregue este año el embalse terminado”.
Destacó además, el proyecto “Plan de Manejo de la Cuenca del Río Yuna”, en cuya formulación se trabaja con apoyo del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID) y que irá en beneficio de las provincias La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Sánchez Ramírez, Duarte y María Trinidad Sánchez.
El acto patrio conmemorativo se desarrolló en la explanada de la institución, ubicada en el Centro de los Héroes, y posteriormente, se celebró una misa de acción de gracias en la Catedral Primada de América.
En la celebración de la misa de acción de gracias, que fue oficiada por el párroco de la Catedral Primada de América, Nelson Clark, acompañaron al titular del INDRHI, por el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales, el viceministro de Suelos y Aguas, René Mateo; por el Tribunal Superior Electoral, su presidente Ygnacio Pascual Camacho, y el juez Pedro Pablo Yermenos; por el Instituto Agrario Dominicano, su director Francisco Guillermo Garcia; por el Fondo Especial para el Desarrollo Agropecuario (FEDA), su presidente Efraín Toribio, y Silvio Carrasco, ex director del INDRHI.
También, los directores de las Corporaciones de los Acueductos y Alcantarillados de La Vega (CORAAVEGA), Julio César Peña, y de Boca Chica (CORAABO), Félix de la Cruz De León; los subdirectores Gloria Fulcar, del Banco Agrícola, y Máximo D´ Oleo, de la Empresa de Generación Hidroeléctrica Dominicana (EGEHID), así como subdirectores, directores, encargados y colaboradores del INDRHI.
El INDRHI compartió en sus plataformas digitales una agenda de actividades conmemorativas a desarrollar durante todo el mes de septiembre, entre las que destaca un recorrido con periodistas por la presa de Valdesia, en coordinación con EGEHID y el Instituto Nacional de Aguas Potables y Alcantarillados (INAPA).
Cabe destacar que el INDRHI es la entidad responsable del manejo de las aguas superficiales y trabaja desde el Gabinete Agropecuario garantizando el riego de más de 5,000,000 de tareas para producción agrícola en el país.
