NUEVA YORK.- El juez que preside el juicio por fraude empresarial contra el expresidente estadounidense Donald Trump en Nueva York le impuso este viernes una multa de 5.000 dólares y además lo amenazó con encarcelarlo por violar una orden que le impuso hace más de dos semanas y que le prohibía publicar mensajes en internet sobre el personal del tribunal.

El magistrado Arthur Engoron amonestó a Trump el pasado 2 de octubre con una «orden mordaza» después de que colgara en su red Truth Social una foto de su secretaria con un ataque personal, y aunque el expresidente eliminó esa publicación de la red social, una copia permaneció en la web de su campaña hasta anoche.

Engoron, que calificó el mensaje de Trump sobre su secretaria como «falso y denigrante», dijo que ayer se enteró de que había permanecido visible en la web de la campaña durante 17 días, y solo fue eliminado después de que el tribunal le enviara un correo, lo que consideró «una violación flagrante de la orden mordaza», según el documento judicial hecho público por el Departamento de Justicia.

La multa de cuantía tan baja -especialmente para una persona con la fortuna de Trump- se explica porque «la violación fue no intencionada, y porque es una primera violación».

Y a continuación añade: «No se equivoquen: futuras violaciones, intencionadas o no, acarrearán al perpetrador sanciones mucho más graves, que pueden incluir, sin limitarse a ello, multas más cuantiosas por la responsabilidad de Donald Trump de desacato a la corte, y posible prisión para él».

El abogado de Trump, Christopher Kise, aseguró que fue un descuido y se disculpó en nombre de su cliente, explicando que retiró la publicación de Truth Social pero nadie se ocupó de quitarla de la web, a lo que el juez respondió que lo tendrá en cuenta pero el expresidente es responsable de la «gran maquinaria» bajo su mando.

Trump está acusado, junto a dos hijos y dos ejecutivos de la Organización Trump, de inflar el valor de los activos de la empresa durante años para obtener condiciones favorables con bancos y aseguradoras, y el juez ya falló que es responsable del cargo de fraude persistente antes de empezar el juicio, de manera sumaria.

El expresidente se ha presentado en persona varios días, en los que ha aprovechado para dirigirse a los medios y arremeter contra el caso, la Fiscalía de Nueva York, que lo impulsa, y el propio juez, a quienes considera partícipes de una «caza de brujas» del Partido Demócrata y de interferir en su campaña política.

En este juicio, de carácter civil, se dirimen varios cargos relacionados con el fraude, como falsedad documental, una compensación que la Fiscalía estima en 250 millones de dólares y el veto a sus negocios en Nueva York, sobre lo que el juez ya ordenó que se suspendan sus licencias de negocio.

La «orden mordaza» de Nueva York contra Trump se suma a otra orden similar impuesta por una jueza en el caso penal que afronta en Washington DC, relacionado con la interferencia en las pasadas elecciones, y en el que se le prohíbe hablar de testigos potenciales o descalificar a los fiscales.
