La Oficina Nacional de Estadística de República Dominicana asume la presidencia de la CEA-CEPAL

La Oficina Nacional de Estadística (ONE) informó que la República Dominicana asumió la presidencia del Comité Ejecutivo de la Conferencia de Estadística de las Américas (CEA), para el bienio 2023-2025, por consenso de sus miembros.  Esta posición estará siendo representada en su directora general, Miosotis Rivas Peña.

La CEA es un órgano subsidiario de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), en el cual los países de América Latina y el Caribe acuerdan acciones conjuntas para el progreso de las políticas y actividades de estadística que se llevan a cabo a través de diferentes grupos de trabajo y comunidades de práctica, así como actividades de alto nivel.

Miosotis Rivas Peña, directora de la ONE, expresó que “esta es una oportunidad para destacar los esfuerzos estadísticos que se realizan en la región, exponer e intercambiar informaciones y experiencias entre los países que conforman la CEA, y, además, un avance en temas de liderazgo inclusivo e igualdad sustantiva desde un enfoque de derechos”. 

“Para este bienio estaremos enfocándonos en tres focos principales; innovación, formación y colaboración, como parte de nuestra estrategia, implementando un plan para la coordinación efectiva de esta comunidad estadística regional”, explicó la directora Rivas Peña. 

La presidencia fue designada mediante consenso entre los miembros del Comité Ejecutivo de la CEA, y fue anunciada en el marco de la XII Reunión de la Conferencia Estadística de las Américas de la CEPAL, celebrada en la sede de la CEPAL, en Santiago de Chile. 

Además de República Dominicana, el Comité está integrado por Argentina, Bahamas, Granada, México, Perú, Uruguay y España, como miembro extrarregional.
