La atleta dominicana Marileidy Paulino, vigente subcampeona olímpica, encadenó su cuarta victoria de la temporada de los 400 lisos al imponerse este viernes en la reunión de París, cuarta cita de la Liga de Diamante, con un tiempo de 49.12 segundos.

Un crono que permitió a la caribeña derrotar a la estadounidense Sydney McLaughlin, vigente campeona olímpica y plusmarquista universal de los 400 vallas y a quien muchos ven capaz de amenazar el legendario récord del mundo (47.60) de la alemana oriental Marita Koch vigente desde 1985.

McLaughlin, que arrancó en París su temporada al aire libre, pareció en disposición durante 300 metros de firmar una espectacular marca en la capital francesa.

Una puesta en escena que McLaughlin, de 23 años, acabó pagando en los metros finales, lo que no desaprovechó Paulino, que supo gestionar mejor los esfuerzos, para arrebatar el triunfo a la estadounidense con un tiempo de 49.12 segundos.

Cincuenta y nueve centésimas menos que Sydney McLaughlin, segunda con un crono de 49.71 segundos, su mejor marca personal.

Muy lejana de los 48.98 segundos que Marileidy Paulino firmó el pasado 27 de mayo en Los Ángeles y que suponen la mejor marca mundial del año.
