En un extraordinario esfuerzo por fortalecer el aparato cultural de la República Dominicana, el Ministerio de Cultura (MINC) ha gestionado una ambiciosa inversión que supera los 700 millones de pesos, entre 2022 y lo que va del 2023, para la rehabilitación estructural de sus dependencias y centros culturales en todo el territorio nacional.

Bajo el liderazgo de la ministra Milagros Germán, esta iniciativa institucional tiene como objetivo revitalizar el quehacer cultural dominicano, salvaguardar el patrimonio cultural material y promover un ambiente más propicio para el desarrollo de la educación artística en el país.

"Nuestra cultura es un tesoro que debemos proteger y preservar. Estas inversiones son fundamentales para garantizar que nuestros espacios culturales estén en óptimas condiciones", explicó Germán, en un informe enviado a los medios de comunicación.

Las instituciones que han otorgado apoyo financiero al MINC para estos fines, son los ministerios de Educación y de Turismo, igual que el de Vivienda y Edificaciones, así como la Comisión Presidencial de Apoyo al Desarrollo Provincial.

En los últimos dos años, la sede del ministerio ha sido objeto de mejoras sustanciales en la planta física y su mobiliario e, igualmente, en los sistemas eléctricos y de climatización, entre otras, con una inversión que supera los 97 millones de pesos.

Uno de los proyectos emblemáticos es la rehabilitación del Palacio de Bellas Artes, que incluye la impermeabilización del techo y la instalación de un moderno sistema de climatización. Esta iniciativa, que asciende a 46.6 millones de pesos, tiene como objetivo preservar este icónico edificio y garantizar que sea un espacio cultural confortable y seguro.

Además, el Conservatorio Nacional de Música, que por más de una década sufrió un evidente deterioro, en la actualidad está siendo sometido a un proceso de recuperación completo. Así, ya ha sido acometida la impermeabilización del techo, se han reparado los baños y se han habilitado aulas que estaban clausuradas.

El presupuesto destinado para la revitalización del Conservatorio supera los 95 millones de pesos, en un esfuerzo importante para garantizar que los futuros músicos dominicanos tengan un espacio adecuado para su formación.

Las obras de remozamiento también se extienden a lugares emblemáticos como el Altar de la Patria, el Museo de las Atarazanas Reales, el Panteón de la Patria, la Fortaleza de Santo Domingo (Ozama), la Casa de la Música y el Museo de la Familia del Siglo XIX, Faro a Colón, Casas Reales y Alcázar de Colón, con una inversión global de más de 180 millones de pesos.

Asimismo, la Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte ha sido objeto de una importante remodelación que supera los 25 millones de pesos y también su casa de gobernación está en proceso de renovación, con un monto adicional de más de 3.6 millones de pesos.

En un esfuerzo por preservar y enriquecer el patrimonio cultural y artístico de la nación, los museos ubicados en este recinto también son objeto de significativas inversiones destinadas a revitalizar sus propuestas culturales y mejorar sus plantas físicas.

Entre ellas destacan las realizadas en el Museo Nacional de Historia y Geografía y el Museo del Hombre Dominicano, los cuales han sido sometidos a una transformación que ha elevado su valor histórico y su atractivo turístico, con una inversión de 13 y 14 millones de pesos, respectivamente, con el primero ya finalizado y el segundo en desarrollo.

Inversión en el interior

En Santiago de los Caballeros, el Monumento a los Héroes de la Restauración fue reacondicionado en su totalidad, incluyendo la renovación del mármol, trabajos de pintura, climatización, reparación de puertas de caoba y la instalación de un nuevo sistema de riego, con una inversión total de 9,577,000 pesos.

El Centro Cultural Ercilia Pepín también fue objeto de mejoras significativas, con la instalación de nuevas butacas en el auditorio, así como un sistema de climatización e impermeabilización del techo, por un monto de 14,794,000 pesos.

Las obras en la Escuela de Bellas Artes de la Ciudad Corazón se encuentran en un 80 % ya concluidas, con una inversión de más de 24 millones de pesos destinados a la restauración del techo de madera, pulido de pisos, pintura general y mejoras en el sistema eléctrico y sanitario, en tanto que el Gran Teatro del Cibao se ha beneficiado de la instalación de un nuevo sistema de aire acondicionado (en proceso) y la readecuación del sistema eléctrico, con una inversión de 9,885,000 pesos.

En Puerto Plata, el MINC lleva a cabo un trabajo de reforzamiento estructural en la Escuela de Bellas Artes, que se encontraba en ruinas al inicio de la presente gestión gubernamental. La inversión concertada es de 29.5 millones de pesos e incluye la impermeabilización del techo y mejoras en el sistema eléctrico y sanitario, así como la instalación de puertas y ventanas, la construcción de un estacionamiento y la pintura del edificio.

El Parque Arqueológico La Isabela, donde se estableció la primera villa en el continente americano por parte de los españoles, recibirá una inversión de 95,965,000 pesos para la rehabilitación de 17 edificaciones que componen el museo y los senderos que recorren este histórico lugar, el cual alberga las ruinas de la casa de Cristóbal Colón.

El MINC también ha gestionado apoyo a la cultura en San Pedro de Macorís, donde se han invertido 6,615,000 pesos en la rehabilitación del Centro Cultural Arquitecto Antonín Nechodoma, así como la Escuela de Danza y Teatro Municipal (EDATM) y la Academia de Música Prof. Julio A. Santana, en el municipio de San José de los Llanos.
