El gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader aumentó la inversión para solucionar el abastecimiento de agua en un 85 %, comparado con el periodo 2016-2019, para así elevar la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos.
Estas informaciones fueron ofrecidas por el jefe de Estado durante LA Semanal con la Prensa, realizada en el Salón Las Cariátides del Palacio Nacional.
Indrhi
Al hablar del embalse de la presa Monte Grande, el mandatario dijo que esta tiene una capacidad de más de 350 millones de metros cúbicos de agua. Además, que permite controlar las crecidas del río Yaque del Sur y que beneficiará cientos de miles de tareas que están improductivas.
Sobre el Proyecto de Desarrollo Agrícola Azua II-Pueblo Viejo informó que su capacidad de almacenamiento será de 500,000 metros cúbicos, favorecerá el riego para 380,000 tareas de tierra, impactará a más de 7,900 usuarios de 15 comunidades y que permitió la construcción de 5 reservorios, mientras que otro fue rehabilitado.
Asimismo, se abordó el tema de la construcción, adecuación y mantenimiento de sistemas de riego, revelando que ya se han intervenido más de 4,000 kilómetros de canales de riego y drenaje, y se han beneficiado más de 350,000 tareas en Montecristi, con obras en el río Yaque del Norte. De igual forma, se construyó el sistema de interconexión del canal Juan Calvo con la presa de La Piña, en Dajabón.
También se informó que el Plan de Manejo de la Cuenca del Río Yuna ha impactado más de 680,000 tareas y beneficiado a más de 13,000 productores.
El mandatario enumeró además las presas que actualmente están en proyecto, siendo estas las de río Dajabón, que impactará 35,000 tareas de tierra; la de Pedro Santana en Elías Piña, que contará con tres embalses para beneficiar unas 90,000 tareas, y la de Paraíso en Barahona, que beneficiará otras 60,000 tareas y cuya capacidad de almacenamiento será de 30 millones de metros cúbicos.
Caasd
El jefe de Estado precisó que la Caasd tiene cifras récords, ya que ha proporcionado 470 millones de galones de agua diarios y por primera vez más de 500,000 habitantes de 70 comunidades cuentan con agua potable por tubería.
Indicó que hay más de 108 kilómetros lineales de tubería sustituidos, 12,720 acometidas sanitarias construidas y 350,000 habitantes beneficiados con Cristo Park.
Campos de pozo
Refirió que en Santo Domingo Norte hay 30,000 habitantes beneficiados con campos de pozo; en La Lechería, Santo Domingo Oeste, 50,000 habitantes y en la cañada de Guajimia, 50,000.
En tanto, en El Tamarindo, Santo Domingo Este, se beneficiaron con pozos, 650 personas y en San Antonio de Guerra más de 38,000. También hay que citar el proyecto de ampliación del acueducto oriental Barrera de Salinidad en Santo Domingo Este, el cual benefició 1.8 millones de personas.
Fellito Suberví
En el mismo sentido, el director de la Caasd, Fellito Suberví, señaló que, desde el inicio de esta administración, la institución ha experimentado un notable aumento en la producción de agua potable.
Señaló que, en los momentos más favorables de la temporada de lluvias, la producción máxima registrada previamente se situaba entre 385 y 390 millones de galones. “Hoy, gracias al esfuerzo del presidente Abinader, la producción supera los 90 millones de galones, lo que representa un incremento del 21 % en tan solo tres años y medio”.
Las cañadas
El funcionario resaltó la importancia que tiene esta gestión de abordar el problema de las cañadas, un desafío históricamente descuidado por administraciones anteriores.
“Al inicio de su gestión no se había diseñado ni un kilómetro de cañada. Sin embargo, gracias a una dedicada labor, se han logrado levantar, diseñar y presupuestar 105 kilómetros de cañadas. De estos, el gobierno actual ha ejecutado 42 kilómetros, marcando un hito en el desarrollo urbano y la mejora de la calidad de vida de miles de dominicanos”.
En otro aspecto crucial, informó que la Caasd ha recuperado el control total sobre las cobranzas de los servicios.
“Al asumir la gestión las cobranzas oscilaban entre 60 y 70 millones de pesos mensuales, con una parte significativa tercerizada y sujeta a comisiones contratadas. Hoy en día, los ingresos por cobranzas ascienden a entre 120 y 125 millones mensuales”.
Destacó además que este incremento en los ingresos se traduce en un servicio más eficiente y sostenible para todos los usuarios, con una tarifa equitativa de 6 pesos por metro cúbico, equivalente a 2 cheles por galón.
Al referirse a este tema, citó que se han intervenido 42 kilómetros de cañadas, se han entregado 14 y otros 18 se entregarán antes de agosto 2024.
En el Gran Santo Domingo sostuvo que 1.8 millones de habitantes fueron beneficiados, al tiempo que informó que tendrán el primer centro de monitoreo. Dijo también que se rehabilitaron seis depósitos de agua en el Gran Santo Domingo.
Inapa
El director de Inapa, Wellington Arnaud, dijo que en producción de agua potable se terminaron 46 obras, la población beneficiada fue de 2,089,873.
En agosto de 2020 se incrementó de 4.5 millones m3/mes y en diciembre de 2023 en 50 millones m3/mes.
Asimismo, informó que fueron colocados 1,419.07 kilómetros de tuberías y 638.51 kilómetros de alcantarillado.
Ministerio de Economía Planificación y Desarrollo
En tanto, el ministro de Economía, Planificación y Desarrollo, Pavel Isa, también manifestó que con el apoyo del Banco Mundial se desarrolla, por 250 millones de dólares, un proyecto para el fortalecimiento y modernización de las prestadoras de agua potable y saneamiento del país.
De igual modo, por valor de 40 millones de dólares se ejecuta un proyecto para el mejoramiento y expansión de los acueductos de Moca y Gaspar Hernández.
Asimismo, un último proyecto por 80 millones de dólares para gestionar de manera integrada las cuencas del Yaque del Norte y del Ozama, con la participación de Indrhi, Inapa, Medio Ambiente y Agricultura.
