SANTO DOMINGO.- El presidente del Senado, Eduardo Estrella, fue proclamado Miembro Honorario del Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas (CDP), por sus aportes a la prensa nacional y al gremio.
Eduardo Estrella fue distinguido con el más alto reconocimiento de la entidad que agrupa a los periodistas de todo el país, en un acto especial celebrado en la sede del CDP, al conmemorarse 40 años de su fundación.
Durante su discurso, el presidente de la Cámara Alta, agradeció la distinción por esta condecoración y manifestó sentirse honrado por formar parte el Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas (CDP).
Valoró la gran labor que realizan los medios de comunicación, así como el apoyo constante que ha recibido por los periodistas a lo largo de los años en su vida pública y privada. “Ha sido un trato con mucha consideración, con críticas normales, como debe ser para defender y preservar nuestra democracia, pero tengo que decir que siempre me han tratado con mucho respeto”, expresó Eduardo Estrella al dirigirse a los presentes.
“Me gustaría que la sociedad me recuerde cómo un verdadero servidor público y mis hijos como un hombre humilde y una persona honesta”, citó Estrella, quien durante su periodo como secretario de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (1991-1994), trabajó en la construcción y diseño de la sede del CDP en Santo Domingo y Santiago de los Caballeros.
El presidente del CDP, Aurelio Henríquez, destacó la trayectoria profesional, moral, política y social que ha mantenido el presidente de la Cámara Alta, Eduardo Estrella, al que le agradecen su comportamiento ético y transparente con los periodistas.
“Fruto del trabajo y la supervisión del también senador por la provincia Santiago, los periodistas tenemos este edificio en Centro de los Héroes. Además, gestionó y logró que los reporteros de la Regional de Santiago también cuenten con sus instalaciones en la Villa Olímpica”, apuntó Henríquez.
José Beato, quien es presidente del Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Prensa (SNTP), resaltó y recordó los aportes que realizó Eduardo Estrella, en el 1991, cuando tuvo a cargo la supervisión y construcción del edificio que aloja a los profesionales del micrófono, en calidad ministro de Obras Públicas.
En el evento, realizado en el Salón Orlando, se otorgó la Medalla al Mérito Periodístico a destacados profesionales de la comunicación, entre ellos; Adriano Cruz, Rafael Méndez, Gustavo Olivo, Carlos T. Martínez, Cristian Jiménez, Elvira Lora, Diulka Pérez, Mercedes Castillo, Ramón Rosario, Salomé Frías, Anibelca Rosario y José Tejada Gómez.
