El Ministerio de Salud Pública informó que continúa realizando las intervenciones en las zonas donde se han registrado aumento de casos de dengue, las cuales incluyen fumigaciones oportunas junto con los operativos de descacharrización y eliminación de criaderos del mosquito Aedes aegypti.
Los reportes de las últimas 4 semanas evidencian que las provincias o Áreas de Salud que han registrado mayor cantidad de casos son La Romana, Barahona Área III (Santo Domingo Norte), San Cristóbal y La Vega.
En lo que va de año (actualizado al 28/08/2023) en todo el país se han registrado 5,145 casos probables de dengue, lo que en comparación con el año 2022 (4,716 casos) representa un incremento de 10 % aproximadamente.
El doctor José Luis Cruz, director de CECOVEZ, dijo que actualmente todas las Direcciones Provinciales de Salud y las Direcciones de Áreas se mantienen en sesión permanente realizando intervenciones que consisten en abatización, descacharrización y educación en salud a la población, así como las continuas fumigaciones.
En el presente año 2023, la región de las Américas, según los reportes, ha experimentado un aumento significativo en los casos de dengue.
El doctor Eladio Pérez, viceministro de Salud Colectiva, dijo que las estadísticas publicadas por la Organización Panamericana de la Salud, (OPS), detallan que el dengue está en un periodo de repunte a nivel internacional. El mismo informe afirma que la República Dominicana en estos momentos registra uno los mejores indicadores de la región.
Salud Pública mantiene el llamado de la alerta epidemiológica emitida el 24 de mayo, por lo que exhorta a las familias a eliminar los posibles criaderos, mantener sus entornos limpios y untar cloro a los tanques y envases donde guarden o almacenen agua, además de taparlos bien, para evitar la reproducción de las larvas que se convierten en mosquitos. Igualmente, recuerda a la población que los horarios en los cuales se están realizando los operativos de fumigación son temprano en la mañana, de 6 a 7 a. m. y entrando la noche de 6 a 7 p. m., debido a que en estas horas es que las hembras del mosquito tienden a salir, alimentarse y reproducirse.
El dengue es una infección viral que se transmite por la picadura del mosquito a las personas. Provoca fiebre alta o leve y puede llegar a ser hasta debilitante, con fuertes dolores de cabeza, dolor detrás de los ojos, dolor muscular y articular, así como erupciones en la piel.
Se recuerda que recientemente el ministro de salud, doctor Daniel Rivera, en comparecencia en el foro de Arbovirosis, informó que tenemos el serogrupo 3 del dengue, lo cual puede encontrar personas con susceptibilidad a la enfermedad.
Además dijo que esto podría ser una de las causas del aumento de casos, aunque no se ha demostrado tener una mortalidad mayor frente a los serogrupos 1 y 2. Hace más de 4 años que este dengue lo no aparecía en el país.
La OPS sostiene que el incremento de casos es por el comportamiento cíclico del vector y la afectación climática de la región por el fenómeno de La Niña, situación que también se ha presentado en la mayoría de los países de la región de las Américas. Hasta el momento se registran más de 3 millones de nuevas infecciones, superando las cifras del 2019, registrado como el año con la incidencia más alta de esta enfermedad en la región, con 3.1 millones de casos, incluidos 28,203 casos graves y 1,823 muertes.
El Ministerio de Salud Pública hace el llamado a la población a mantener la calma, seguir las recomendaciones de las autoridades y ante cualquier síntoma acudir de inmediato al centro de salud más cercano.
