Jerusalén.- El acuerdo de tregua e intercambio de rehenes por presos entre Israel y el grupo islamista Hamás, que comenzó el viernes y caducaba hoy, se extenderá dos días más, según anunciaron el grupo islamista palestino y el gobierno de Catar.

“El Movimiento de Resistencia Islámica Hamás anuncia que se ha acordado con los hermanos de Catar y Egipto prorrogar la tregua humanitaria temporal dos días más en las mismas condiciones que la tregua anterior”, informó el grupo en un comunicado difundido a través de Telegram.

El portavoz del departamento de Exteriores catarí, Majed al Ansari, escribió en su cuenta de la red social X que “el Estado de Catar anuncia que, como parte de la mediación en curso, se ha llegado a un acuerdo para extender la tregua humanitaria por dos días más en la Franja de Gaza».

En declaraciones a la agencia de noticias estatal catarí, QNA, antes del anuncio de la extensión de la tregua, Al Ansari manifestó el deseo de Catar de que esta sirva para “alcanzar un alto el fuego permanente en la Franja y evitar el derramamiento de sangre de los civiles».

Hasta el momento, el Gobierno israelí no se ha pronunciado sobre la extensión de la tregua.

Este anuncio llega poco antes de que caducara el acuerdo, que entró en vigor el pasado viernes a las 07-00 hora local (05-00 GMT) y estaba previsto que se extendiera por cuatro días.

Más allá de algunos inconvenientes menores, ambas partes han respetado el pacto, que ha visto la liberación de 58 rehenes cautivos en Gaza y 117 presos palestinos en cárceles israelíes.

Este lunes está previsto que se lleve a cabo el cuarto intercambio e Israel ya ha anunciado que recibió un listado de los rehenes que serán liberados hoy.

Entre los 58 secuestrados liberados por Hamás desde el viernes se incluyen 19 extranjeros que no forman parte del pacto.

El acuerdo entre Israel y el grupo islamista fue posible gracias a la mediación de Catar, Egipto y EE.UU. y prevé la liberación de 50 rehenes israelíes a cambio de 150 presos palestinos, todos menores o mujeres.

Además, incluye la entrada de ayuda humanitaria a la Franja de Gaza y una cláusula por la cual el pacto podría extenderse por hasta diez días en caso de que Hamás se comprometa a entregar al menos diez cautivos más por cada día adicional.
