El primera base dominicano, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. aseguró que no tiene ningún tipo de interés de jugar con los Leones del Escogido, ni en la Liga Invernal de Béisbol (LIDOM), luego de que se le faltara el respeto en la pasada temporada 2022-23.
En una entrevista realizada por el periodista Martín Zapata, el poderoso jugador de los Azulejos de Toronto, mostró su malestar con los Melenudos.
“No quisieron que yo jugara”, fue lo primero que dijo Guerrero Jr. ante el cuestionamiento sobre la imposibilidad de jugar. Al pedírsele que reiterara lo que acaba de decir, el inicialista se limitó a señalar que la razón por la que no jugó debe ser explicada por el gerente, Luis Rojas.
“Eso tú deberías preguntárselo al gerente, porque yo no sé nada de eso. Yo solamente iba de camino a San Francisco (de Macorís), recibí una llamada, (me dijeron) que no estaba en roster y di la vuelta hacia mi casa (…) por ahora no tengo esas ganas, ese interés de jugar”, señaló el ganador del Guante de Oro del 2022 de las Grandes Ligas.
Asimismo, el poderoso bateador confesó que los equipos de la LIDOM, cuando los peloteros necesitan accionar hay momentos que no le dan la oportunidad.
“A los peloteros que necesitan jugar en Dominicana, algunas veces (los equipos) les dan la espalda, entonces cuando ellos quieren que tú juegues, ellos quieren que sea obligado y las cosas no son así. Yo soy de las personas que respeto mucho al béisbol y respeto mucho a mis compañeros y yo digo que eso fue una falta de respeto lo que hicieron y hasta ahora mismo no tengo interés en jugar en Dominicana”, agregó el bateador derecho de los Blue Jays.
Sobre su futuro en la liga, el dominicano apuntó a que está abierto a que lo cambien a cualquier de los otros cinco equipos del circuito invernal, pero sostuvo que en este momento no está planeando uniformarse con nadie.
Por su lado, hasta el momento los Leones no han emitido ningún comunicado ni posición oficial con respecto a la situación que atraviesan con el pelotero.
Vladdy Jr, de 24 años debutó con los Escarlata en la temporada del 2017-18 y participó por segunda vez para los años 2020-21.
