SANTO DOMINGO.-La Dirección General de Servicios Penitenciarios y Correccionales (DGSPC) inició una reestructuración en los mandos administrativos y de seguridad del recinto Anamuya, en Higüey, luego de que el pasado lunes se produjera un motín en el que perdió la vida un privado de libertad y en el que un grupo de internos secuestraron por varias horas a un agente de vigilancia.
Roberto Hernández Basilio, titular de la institución, dijo que el recinto fue intervenido de inmediato para detectar los puntos de conflicto y generar los cambios necesarios para mejorar las condiciones de habitabilidad y los servicios.
La dirección provisional del recinto CCR14 está a cargo del subdirector de Tratamiento de la DGSPC, Noel Toribio.
“Hemos iniciado una intervención integral del recinto con la finalidad de restablecer la normalidad. Lo primero ha sido cambiar la estructura directiva, incluido el personal de seguridad, sin interferir en las investigaciones que inició el Ministerio Público sobre los acontecimientos del pasado lunes”, dijo Hernández Basilio.
“Ahora estamos enfocados en asistencia jurídica, de salud y actividades de tratamiento penitenciario que contribuyan a reducir los niveles de ansiedad en la población”, añadió.
Las autoridades sumaron cien colchones nuevos al recinto en el que los privados de libertad quemaron algunos durante el motín.
En materia de salud se inició con la fumigación del recinto y las evaluaciones para determinar aquellos casos que requieran atención inmediata.
El pasado lunes, tras una requisa en la que el personal de seguridad, se incautó dos teléfonos celulares y conducía hacia los alojamientos de reflexión a los propietarios, un grupo de privados de libertad rodeó a los agente VTP y agredió con armas blancas.
Un grupo de privados de libertad retuvo al agente VTP Carlos Mercedes Méndez, lo golpearon y llevaron a un lugar apartado, mientras los demás destruían candados, cámaras, televisores, lavamanos, inodoros y quemaron colchones, motivo por el que fue necesaria la intervención de los bomberos y la Policía Nacional.
Producto de los disparos de escopeta resultaron cuatro privados de libertad heridos.
Dos de los afectados fueron conducidos al hospital, incluyendo a Víctor Manuel Marte Castillo, quien falleció de herida de perdigón.
Otros privados de libertad que presentaban heridas leves fueron atendidos en el mismo centro.
