El precio internacional del WTI (West Texas Intermediate) mantiene un promedio alrededor de los 90 dólares. No obstante, a pesar de la leve reducción, el Gobierno dominicano ha destinado nueva vez un subsidio extraordinario de 300 millones de pesos dirigido a contener las alzas en todos los combustibles para la semana del 20 al 26 de agosto.
El viceministro de Comercio Interno, Ramón Pérez Fermín, explicó que en términos generales los temas del mercado no han variado: “Por un lado, las expectativas de baja en la demanda mundial, producto del temor a una recesión económica han incidido, aunque es justo decir que en las últimas dos semanas las señales son positivas y la recesión ha cedido y, por el otro, la guerra en Ucrania, con más de 5 meses de hostilidad, ha hecho que los precios aumenten a niveles históricos que no veíamos desde el 2008”.
“En suma y resta, el Gobierno ha determinado que por al menos una semana más los precios se mantengan, teniendo que asumir un sacrificio extraordinario de 300 millones de pesos”, expresó Pérez Fermín.
Con este subsidio extraordinario el Gobierno estaría evitando alzas que van desde los 12 pesos por galón en el caso del GLP, hasta los casi 64 pesos por galón para el gasoil óptimo.
Para la semana desde el 20 hasta el 26 de agosto de 2022, el Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Mipymes dispone que los combustibles se comercialicen a los siguientes precios:

| Gasoil Regular | RD 221.60 por galón | mantiene su precio. |

| Avtur | RD 298.91 por galón | mantiene su precio. |
| Kerosene | RD 338.10 por galón | mantiene su precio. |
| Fuel Oil #6 | RD 192.11 por galón | mantiene su precio. |
| Fuel Oil 1%S | RD 211.77 por galón | mantiene su precio. |
| Gas Licuado de Petróleo (GLP) | RD 147.60 por galón | mantiene su precio. |
| Gas Natural | RD 28.97 por m3 | mantiene su precio. |
La tasa de cambio promedio semanal es de RD 54.09, tomada de las publicaciones diarias del Banco Central.
