  El Instituto Nacional de Recursos Hidráulicos (INDRHI) informó sobre los proyectos que desarrollan en el municipio cabecera de esta provincia, entre ellos, el proyecto de adecuación de la cañada Tenguerengue, con su revestimiento en cajón en casi 3 kilómetros, y la construcción del dique de Yábano, junto a la rehabilitación del canal de ese sistema de riego, de 2.5 kilómetros de longitud, en la comunidad de Cuenda.

Olmedo Caba Romano, director del INDRHI, encabezó el recorrido y explicó, durante la inspección en Tenguerengue, que poner fin al foco de insalubridad al que vivía expuesta la ciudadanía de San Juan de la Maguana requirió cerrar el tramo que atraviesa el centro urbano para evitar que continuaran lanzando desperdicios. También se hizo la construcción de 8 pasos vehiculares y la instalación de 45 registros pluviales, entre otras mejoras.

Señaló, además, que esa obra será entregada pronto a la comunidad y traerá múltiples beneficios a la población sanjuanera. “No solo viene a contribuir con la belleza del lugar, sino también con la salud de los que viven y transitan por los alrededores. Ha cambiado por completo el panorama ambiental de la zona”, afirmó durante el recorrido.

Posteriormente, Caba Romano supervisó el proyecto de riego que desarrollan en Yábano, el cual se encuentra avanzado en un 85 %. El mismo contempla la construcción de un dique y la rehabilitación de su canal de distribución, lo que garantizará el agua para riego en unas 2,496 tareas, beneficiando directamente a 87 productores de maíz, plátano, yuca, batata, arroz, limón y otros rubros.

Durante el recorrido de inspección, el titular estuvo acompañado de la directora regional de Gestión Presidencial, Ana María Castillo, así como de los funcionarios del INDRHI, Daniel Gómez, subdirector; Juan Carlos Nova, director de Operaciones; Avelino De León, director de Proyectos; Roberto Luciano, director de la regional de Sistema de Riego del Valle de San Juan, y de técnicos e ingenieros encargados de los proyectos.
