MONTECRISTI.- El Juez de la Oficina Judicial de Atención Permanente del Distrito Judicial de Montecristi, Edison Castro Guerra, impuso 18 meses de prisión preventiva como medida de coerción y declaró complejo el proceso seguido a 16 ciudadanos (as), a quienes el Ministerio Público acusa de tráfico ilícito de migrantes.
Los imputados a quienes se le impuso prisión preventiva conforme al artículo 226 numeral 7 del Código Procesal Penal son: Eddy Rafael Cordero Villanueva, María Rafaela Núñez Batista de Cordero, Anelsy Escarlex Cordero, Osiris Rafael Estévez Fortuna, Elbio José Castillo, Hilario Antonio Gómez Pau y Santo Valerio Contreras.
También, Jesús María Cerda, Anelbis Guzmán, Aquilino Sosa Fernández, Edna Joseph, Rafael Zabala Peña, Rafael Contreras, Sandro Liranzo Javier, Julio César Pujols Montero y José Dolores Hernández, quienes deberán ser recluidos en la cárcel pública de la citada localidad.
Al tribunal declarar el caso complejo, el Ministerio Público tiene un plazo de ocho meses para depositar acusación. La medida de coerción será revisada de oficio cada tres meses.
El órgano acusador imputa a los 16 ciudadanos (as) la violación al tipo penal de tráfico Ilícito de migrantes, previsto y sancionado en los artículos 2 y 7 (literales b, c, d y e) de la ley núm. 137-03, sobre Tráfico Ilícito de Migrantes y Trata de Personas, así como los artículos 265 y 266 del Código Penal dominicano, que tipifican como un delito la Trata y Tráfico de Personas.
Asimismo, el Ministerio Público en su solicitud de medida de coerción les imputa integrar una red que se dedicaba a financiar, facilitar y transportar a migrantes, utilizando motocicletas y autobuses, para lo cual estarían en complicidad con miembros del cuerpo de militares asignados al control fronterizo en esa zona, en violación a la ley y en perjuicio del Estado dominicano.
