CIUDAD DE MÉXICO.- El presidente mexicano, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, nombró este miércoles al general en retiro André Georges Foullon como nuevo director de la Agencia Nacional de Aduanas de México (ANAM) en medio de su política de otorgar crecientes facultades a los militares.

«Va a ser el director de Aduana el general de división retirado André Foullon. Para que tengan antecedente de este general de división, cuando me tocó decidir sobre quién podía hacerse cargo de la Secretaría de la Defensa, él estuvo en la terna», indicó el mandatario en su rueda de prensa diaria.

Como director de la ANAM, el militar administrará las 50 aduanas terrestres y marítimas de México, por donde cada año ingresan más de 1 billón de pesos (casi 59.000 millones de dólares), lo que constituye el 15 % del presupuesto nacional, según expuso el presidente.

Su nombramiento refleja el creciente rol de las Fuerzas Armadas bajo el Gobierno de López Obrador, quien les ha otorgado tareas antes reservadas a civiles, como la seguridad pública, construcción de infraestructura y la administración de obras como el Tren Maya, aeropuertos y una aerolínea.

El mandatario destacó que Foullon es «una gente recta, honesta, preparada y fue director del Colegio Militar, y subsecretario de la Secretaría de la Defensa».

El relevo también ocurre mientras México afronta una creciente presión de Estados Unidos para combatir el fentanilo, que se fabrica con precursores químicos que llegan de China a los puertos mexicanos, según la Agencia Antidrogas estadounidense (DEA).

«Necesitamos seguir limpiando de corrupción las aduanas portuarias y fronterizas para que no haya contrabando, que no haya tráfico de drogas y que no haya evasión fiscal», comentó López Obrador.

El general reemplazará a Rafael Marín Mollinedo, «una gente muy cercana» al Gobierno que ahora será el embajador de México en la Organización Mundial del Comercio (OMC), detalló el gobernante mexicano.

«Nos va a representar, él es economista y va a esa misión. Nos importa mucho fortalecer las relaciones con los países europeos y estamos pensando en la firma de un tratado con la Unión Europea, y va a trabajar sobre esto”, mencionó.
