República Dominicana se destaca en Locarno Film Festival 2022 en Suiza

Con el objetivo de beneficiar a productores dominicanos en la creación de alianzas de negocios internacionales, la Dirección General de Cine (DGCINE) participó en la 75.ª edición del Festival Internacional de Cine de Locarno, celebrado en Suiza del 3 al 13 de agosto de 2022.

En el marco del acuerdo suscrito entre la DGCINE y el festival, las productoras dominicanas Leticia Brea y Alexandra Santana formaron parte de los 32 profesionales seleccionados en la sección Match me!, iniciativa que conectó a productores emergentes con posibles coproductores, fondos y agentes de ventas, cuyo foco 2022-2024 es en Latinoamérica y el Caribe.

Yanillys Pérez, con su proyecto "Cuando cae la lluvia", obtuvo dos galardones, el Open Doors – World Cinema Fund Audience Strategy Award y el mejor cortometraje Junior Award Open Doors.

En la sección Open Doors del festival, el largometraje dominicano “Una película sobre parejas”, de Natalia Cabral y Oriol Estrada, fue el filme inaugural en la sección de Feature Films, y el cortometraje “Techos rotos” de Yanillys Pérez, en la sección de Short Films.

Las cineastas Natalia Cabral, Yanillys Pérez y Alexandra Santana han sido ganadoras del Concurso Público FONPROCINE. El mismo dedica sus fondos a apoyar la escritura de guiones, así como al desarrollo, producción y posproducción de proyectos cinematográficos dominicanos. La convocatoria de esta edición estará abierta hasta el 30 de septiembre.

Para este 2022 la República Dominicana ha tenido la mayor presencia en este renombrado evento cinematográfico, considerado un festival “Clase A” a nivel mundial.

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Locarno es uno de los eventos cinematográficos más importantes del mundo. Se celebra anualmente en agosto en la ciudad de Locarno, Suiza, desde 1946. La película dominicana “Cocote”, ganadora del Concurso Público FONPROCINE, obtuvo el primer lugar en la sección Signs of Life de este festival, en el 2017.
