La cantante colombiana Shakira se convertirá en la primera artista latinoamericana en recibir el “Video Vanguard Award” que otorga la MTV en su entrega anual de los “Video Music Awards (MVA)”, donde además actuará, el próximo 12 de septiembre en el Prudential Center en Nueva Jersey.

Este reconocimiento lo han recibido antes estrellas como Madonna, David Bowie, The Beattles junto al director Richard Lester, Janet Jackson, Beyoncé o Jennifer Lopez, entre otros, según un comunicado de la cadena televisiva MTV.

“Shakira es una auténtica fuerza mundial que sigue inspirando e influyendo con su singular destreza y talento musical. Es una referente para las mujeres de todo el mundo y una de las primeras artistas en liderar la globalización de la música latina”, afirmó Bruce Gillmer, responsable de Música de Paramount, empresa propietaria de MTV.

La premiada cantante podría sumar además esa noche otros premios a su larga lista de reconocimientos, ya que está nominada en tres categorías- Artista del Año, Mejor colaboración por “TQG” junto a su compatriota Karol G y Mejor vídeo latino, en esta última con doble nominación por “TQG” y “Acróstico».

El premio a Shakira y las nominaciones se suman a un año exitoso para la estrella colombiana, que debutó como primera cantante femenina en formar parte del Top 10 del Billboard Hot 100 con un tema en español por “BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53” y repitiendo un mes después con “TQG”, recuerda el comunicado.

Shakira ya ha recibido cuatro premios VMA, el primero de ellos en el 2000 en la categoría International Viewer’s Choice (Latinoamérica Norte), mismo premio que repitió en 2002. Sus siguientes galardones fueron en 2006 con su éxito “Hips Don’t Lie” y en 2007 por “Beautiful Liar”, colaboración con Beyoncé.

La colombiana volverá a tomarse el escenario de unos premios MTV este año, 17 años después de su última presentación y 18 años después de la primera actuación íntegramente en español en los VMAs con su éxito “La tortura” junto al español Alejandro Sanz. La cantautora se colocó recientemente entre los primeros puestos de la lista de la revista Billboard Latin Pop Airplay Chart, un logro nunca antes alcanzado en las casi tres décadas de historia de la lista.

A esto se le suman 14 récords Guinness con “BZRP Music Sessions Vol. 53” como la canción latina más escuchada en Spotify en 24 horas y en una semana, la más vista en YouTube en 24 horas y la que más rápido alcanzó los 100 millones de reproducciones en YouTube, destaca además el comunicado.
