El rapero de origen puertorriqueño Vico C, que regresó recientemente a la música tras 14 años de silencio, recibirá un galardón especial a su trayectoria en la cuarta edición de los Premios Tu Música Urbano.

“El Filósofo del Rap” será reconocido como “figura pilar del movimiento urbano en Puerto Rico”, donde la historia del rap “lleva su firma”, informaron este martes los organizadores de los premios, que se entregan el próximo 15 de junio.

Con una carrera de casi cuatro décadas, Vico C catapultó el hip hop y rap en la escena local. Muchas de las estrellas de la llamada vieja y nueva escuela de la música urbana lo reconocen como un maestro.

“Este homenaje que Premios Tu Música Urbano rinde a Vico C por su consistente trayectoria es solo una muestra de lo que le debemos como precursor del movimiento que celebramos hoy”, expresó en un comunicado Soraya Sánchez, productora de los galardones.

“Gracias a su música y a su talento, abrió las puertas del género urbano con el tema ‘Bomba Para Afincar’ cuando era impensable el rumbo que tomaría esta música de la que es pionero”, agregó.

Vico C, además, tomará el escenario en el Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot para presentar en vivo su más reciente éxito, “Pregúntale a tu papá por mí». Otros artistas que actuarán durante la gala de los premios, retransmitida por la cadena Telemundo, son Anuel, Yandel, Arcángel, Alvarito, Ryan Castro y Redimi2.

Las nominaciones a estos premios están lideradas por Rauw Alejandro, con doce, incluida Artista del Año; Feid, con menciones en once categorías; y Bad Bunny con diez.
